Paediatric Critical Care Society Conference 2024

The world of Paediatric Critical Care medicine and its provision continues to face significant changes and challenges. There are evolving expectations in the way PCC is delivered. Attributed to the consequences of the complexities in the evolution in healthcare, PCC professionals face associated physical, social, moral and ethical conundrums. The PCC workforce is and will continue to be an integral part of this transformational process as we look towards the future. Every year PCCS Conference brings together paediatric critical care practitioners to share knowledge gained, research performed, and practice evaluated over the previous 12 months. It highlights for me, and I hope you, all of the opportunities for shared learning, collaboration and most importantly the ability to network in person.

This year’s PCCS Annual Scientific meeting is being hosted by the Northwest in Liverpool. The theme of ‘Imagine the future’ of paediatric critical care is one which we all are considering. The team plan to offer and deliver a stimulating and thought-provoking conference with ample opportunity to reflect. Concurrently, the value-added social programme will be in some iconic venues to maximise the opportunity for networking. It is an exciting opportunity to see friends old and new throughout the conference, whilst hoping that we can nurture and evolve paediatric critical care into its future.

It promises to be the place to be. I can’t wait to see you all there.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Liverpool for the 38th annual meeting of the Paediatric Critical Care Society. We have assembled a program to include a range of interesting and original clinical and non-clinical topics, in two parallel sessions each day considering the interests of the whole multidisciplinary audience. The program incorporates a broad range of both local expert speakers and other experts from across the UK

Paediatric critical care is a rapidly changing and dynamic environment, and anticipating and planning for the future is crucial for success and the drive to improve quality and safety. The theme of our conference is ‘Imagine.. the future of Paediatric Critical care’ and our program reflects this theme, whilst also recognising that we also need to learn from past events and tragedy to move forwards.

Finally, we need to inspire the next generation to join this amazing team, and I hope you will use the next few days to refresh and reflect on our shared goals.
