The European Health Management Association is delighted to announce the appointment of Federica Margheri as the new Interim Executive Director, effective from 25th March 2024.

Federica began her journey with EHMA in 2017, where she held several senior leadership positions, including Chief Operating Officer and Director of Development. Throughout her tenure, she has acquired a comprehensive understanding of EHMA's strategy and core operations, while fostering strong relationships with members, partners, and external stakeholders.

Federica takes over from George Valiotis, who steps down after four years of dedicated service. We express our sincerest appreciation for George's steadfast commitment, leadership, and significant contributions to our organisation, which have been instrumental in EHMA's growth.

In response to her appointment, Federica Margheri stated: "I am deeply honoured to assume the role of Interim Executive Director of EHMA. I eagerly anticipate continuing our collaboration with members and partners to realise our vision of exemplary health management for a thriving Europe.

I would like to extend my gratitude to our former Executive Director, George Valiotis, for charting a course to success for this organisation. His exceptional leadership continues to inspire me and our entire team, and I am committed to upholding this legacy to the best of my ability.

Health management remains EHMA's strategic focal point as it provides guidance and leadership in overseeing health at the individual, organisational, and systemic levels. I am dedicated to advancing the capacity and capabilities of health management, facilitating resilient health systems, promoting knowledge dissemination, fostering sustainable practices, and ensuring the effective implementation of quality health policies."

Prof Sandra C. Buttigieg, President of the EHMA Board, remarked: "Federica emerged as the obvious and exceptional candidate for this position, given her extensive knowledge and experience in advocating for health management at the European level.

The Board of Directors eagerly anticipates collaborating with her to promote exemplary health management for a flourishing Europe by facilitating the exchange of knowledge on effective health management practices."
