HMI Annual Conference 2015

HMI Annual Conference

Our conference is an ideal starting point to debate what ‘CHANGE for the better’ could look like. Our exceptional panel of Irish and international speakers will lead the discussion on the lessons we can take from the past to inform the future. It focuses on two main areas. The first area is innovation in processes, practices and technology used in service delivery. The second area addresses the need to improve and assure the quality of the services which we provide.

As a delegate, you will learn about leading edge practices in service delivery. There will be a particular focus on how effective governance influences the delivery of safe quality care. Once again, you will have an occasion to debate and connect with other senior managers from the Irish health services. We look forward to meeting you at our conference and we hope that you will leave ready to lead our health services as they ‘CHANGE for the better’.

Change is an everyday reality for healthcare managers. It forms the backdrop to decision-making in the drive to improve service quality and delivery. For quite a number of years, it arose from managing the competing forces of increased demand and finite resources. However, there is now a renewed sense of optimism reflected in our theme for this year’s conference: ‘CHANGE for the better’.

Given the opportunities for positive change, managers have the chance to be proactive in driving the change agenda. They can use their full range of competencies as they lead and develop organisations which are adaptive, innovate and embrace new technologies. However, they must decide what are the specific opportunities they should target to improve service delivery and enhance patient experiences.
