• Abeer Alzubaidi

Abeer is currently a PhD student at Nottingham Trent University. Her area of research broadly focuses on data science, deep feature mining, and big data analytics. Specifically, she is interested in using computational intelligence techniques to extract knowledge from omics data for understanding the cancer genotype and phenotype. Abeer has published her innovative biomarker detection research in prestigious conferences, winning the best student paper award at IEEE SSCI 2016 and ITAG 2016. Her current focus is on expanding the capacity of the deep learning paradigm to aid knowledge extraction and its applications to different types of cancers with a strong genetic component. Extracting relevant knowledge for cancer will help standardise the definition of the disease and advance the move towards personalised and precision cancer medicine. Abeer’s overarching goal is to develop sophisticated integrative models of the interacting factors underlying cancer diagnosis and prognosis, such as genetic, genomic, behavioural and environmental factors.

Deep Mining for Determining Cancer Biomarkers

    • 29/08/2020

The use of omics data for knowledge discovery is an approach that can be used for personalised cancer medicine and for a better understanding of cancer genotype and phenotype. Three researchers have developed a deep feature learning model to discover biomarkers that are positively and negatively associated with cancer. HealthManagement.org spoke to Abeer Alzubaidi, Jonathan Tepper and Ahmad Lotfi...
