The General Hospital of Nicosia is the only tertiary hospital and the flagship Hospital of our country. It is the largest hospital in Cyprus, in terms of the number of patients it serves, but also in terms of building infrastructure. The Hospital belongs to the network of Hospitals of the State Health Services Organization, together with the 7 other Hospitals that geographically cover the entire free Cyprus, providing universal coverage of the citizens' health needs.
It has 456 active inpatient beds, 36 day care beds and 56 dialysis beds, 12 operating theaters and an Accident and Emergency Department (A&E), while it is staffed by 217 doctors from more than 30 different specialties, 16 University doctors and 1009 nursing staff. The hospital serves more than 160,000 inpatients and outpatients annually, as well as 55,000 patients in the TAEP, having to deal with every day from the simplest to the most difficult and complex cases.
