Alexandre Lourenço, an accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in healthcare leadership, has assumed the role of CEO/Chairperson at ULS Coimbra. Currently serving as the CEO/Chairman of Coimbra's Healthcare Integrated Delivery System and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the NOVA School of Public Health, Alexandre brings a distinguished background to his new position.

 

With a PhD in Management from NOVA School of Business & Economics, Lisbon, Alexandre has also demonstrated expertise in Hospital Administration (MHA), Primary Health Care Management, and Health Management (MSc) from NOVA SPH. His impressive career includes notable roles such as President of the Portuguese Association of Hospital Administrators and a former board member of the European Association of Hospital Managers.

 

Having contributed significantly to the healthcare sector, Alexandre is a Consultant at the World Health Organization (WHO), focusing on financing and strengthening health systems and health services delivery. Currently, he serves as the Vice-chair of the WHO-Europe Tuberculosis Advisory Group, Treasurer of the European Health Management Association, and Co-chair of the World Hospital Congress Scientific Committee, among other esteemed positions.

 

As he steps into the leadership role at ULS Coimbra, Alexandre's wealth of experience and commitment to healthcare excellence positions him as an asset for the organisation's future endeavours.
