3rd Gulf EP Live

How it all started:

Given the growing demand of Cardiac EP resources for education and awareness from cardiologists, general physicians and EP experts of the region wishing to refresh and update their knowledge, for long there was a need to have a platform dedicated solely to core EP catering doctors, allied professionals, at all stages of their careers. A stage bringing together the EP ‘creme dela crème’ enriching the learning experience, healthy competition, exchange of research and being recognized for their work in the region. Previously, experts wishing to update their EP knowledge, those having the means would be having to fly down to Europe or USA.
Dr.Arif Al Nooryani, a pioneering interventional cardiologist of the region having a keen interest in EP education facilitated the formation of the GULF EP LIVE under the patronage and support of the visionary UAE Minister of Health H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais.
Dr.Rajin Choudhury had been setting up EP clinics and Device clinics to derive data and develop a better understanding of the disorders in the northern emirates since 2011, conducting campaigns such as ‘Heart Rhythm Week’ together with Ms.Trudie Lobban of Arrhythmia Alliance to spread the awareness of Heart rhythm disorders in the general population and at the same time refresh and update the knowledge of doctors in contact with such subsets of patients in the region, decided to start a Course dedicated solely to the promotion of cardiac electroplysiology education. A didactic and handson course catering to EP education to EP experts, EP /Cardiology fellows, cardiologists, internists, allied professionals.
The first edition of GULF EP LIVE was formulated and put to plan together by Dr.Mohammed Magdi and Dr.Rajin Choudhury, and was immensely supported by the Gulf Heart Rhythm Society and the Emirates Cardiac society. The European heart Rhythm Association conducted a courses in core topics of EP and Devices. Sharjah University, College of Medical Sciences conducted the Hands on sessions of the ‘Anatomy in EP’. The companies dealing with EP in the region came forward to setup demo stations at the symposiums and top experts at the forefront of EP education came together to be the faculty.
There were 5 LIVE cases from cath labs around the world, and teleconferencing videos from Asia and Europe. The gala dinner was set by the Burj Khalifa fountain and was the perfect ending to the first edition only to open up new friends, networking routes, hope to EP aspirants of the region and neighbouring continents for a 2nd edition of such a marvelous EP symposium.
