The SHIMADZU SAKD-2300 Particle Analyzer can be used for a wide variety of applications, with the number of possible applications even larger when optional units and application software packages are taken into account. The particle sizes that can be measured by this system are in the range from 17 nanometers to 2500 micrometers for wet measurement. Sample amounts can be from 15 microliters to 300 milliliters. Particle size distributions can be measured in concentrations on the order of 0.1 part per million. Measurements are accomplished by use of a laser diffraction technique, with a 680 nm red laser used as the light source. A total of 84 elements are used in the UV range as light detectors. The actual measurement range is a function of the shape of the particle under investigation.
