The Compact Microscope also called the OM-18 Operating Microscope is a new concept where the suspension arm has been shifted to the side of the Microscope. This allows the operating surgeon to get a better front field view. The light source is also placed away from the microscope section. The microscope uses cold light coaxial illumination through fibre light guide which is low in heat transmission. It also considerably reduces the projection of the filament image as hot spots. This ensures high level of safety and quality. This idea of separating the light source reduces the size of the Microscope. The Compact Microscope uses a zoom magnification changer that is motorized. The magnification ranges from 4.6 x to 27.4 x which makes the operations less strain full. The illumination optics provide Ø55mm illumination field. This enables constant brightness from low to high magnification. The OM-18 Operating Microscope also has a new tilting mechanism too.
