CareAware Smart Pump Programming is used by clinicians for automating medical processes. It connects the patients order and device with the hospital’s HER to enable efficient clinical work flow. This connection helps in improving work flow of the nursing staff while improving the safety of the patients with ease. With solutions provided by Cerner Millennium, the nurse scans the badge along with the patient’s arm band and IV bag. This automated data is sent to the pump with a bar-code scan. This system chooses the drug automatically from the library and the pump is programmed. After the nurse confirms the data and the pump begins to function, the data is stored in Cerner Millennium. Through this procedure, safety of the patient is increased along with saving time since the number of steps to be followed is automatically reduced.
