PTX crystallization is formed due to “unstable” balloon surface layers, outside the drug-release matrix, above the coating surface. Being easily removable, these could be seen as white PTX particles that are unshielded. The PTX particles are toxic and these either fall or are wiped off the surface of the balloon at the time of catheter manipulation. Patients and professionals are provided protection against these particles by means of the LEGFLOW DEB Drug-Coating Technology. No significant micro emboli is caused during positioning of DEB catheter at the lesion side and balloon dilatation, owing to the stability of the LEGFLOW DEB Coating. The secure balloon surface, which is PTX-shielded, prevents the probable risk of uncontrollable loss of drug which is otherwise normally experienced. Moreover, contamination is also eliminated in the cath lab environment with Paclitaxell.
