Videokymography (VKG) is a high-speed medical imaging method for revealing vocal-fold vibration in voice disorders. Cymo B.V., supported by STW and Groningen Voice Research Lab, is producing a new generation videokymographic system. With a dual-CCD construction, the system not only provides kymographic images, but also simultaneously presents structural images for navigating the endoscope to the desired position. With 7200 lines per second, the kymographic imaging has sufficient speed to investigate all types of regular and irregular vocal-fold vibrations. High temporal and spatial resolution Maximal spatial resolution of kymographic image is 625 pixels with a temporal resolution of 7200 lines per second. Maximal spatial resolution of larynogscopic image is 768 by 576 pixels with a temporal resolution of 25 frames per second. Videokymographic 2156 Uninterrupted kymogram in a standard video system The continuous kymogram of the vocal fold vibration can be retrieved from a sequence of kymographic images without being interrupted by the vertical blanking of a standard video system. Real-time imaging without post-processing The images can be visualized directly on a standard video monitor without any waiting time for post-processing, drastically reducing the examination time. Standard video output Analog output has a PAL or NTSC standard signal for any standard video monitor or video recorder. Digital video output provides raw digital video data for quantitative analysis.
