VORTEQ™ has long been used by Micromedical to measure the Vestibular Ocular Reflex (VOR) gain and symmetry. VORTEQ™ provides unique testing paradigms necessary to accurately measure VOR over a range of frequencies. AHR - Active Head Rotation VOR The VOR normally serves to stabilize gaze in space during head movements by generating equal and opposite compensatory eye movements. During VORTEQ™ active head rotation testing, patients simply shake their head "yes" (vertical VOR test) or "No" (horizontal VOR test) to the beat of an electronic metronome over a frequency range specified for that test. VHIT - Video Head Impulse Test Now test all 6 canals! Vorteq VHIT is Micromedicals video head impulse test. The clinical head impulse/thrust test (HIT or HTT) method was first described by Michael Halmagyi MD in 1988 where he performed manual head thrusts clinically and observed the corrective saccades caused by retinal slip in patients with vestibular loss. Today with our high speed cameras and small angular velocity sensors, the Vorteq Video Head Impulse Test (VHIT) will calculate position gain and display eye traces to help you see overt and covert saccadic intrusions during passive head thrusts. By rotating the head in the plane of the Lateral, LARP or RALP canal pairs, only horizontal or vertical eye movements are generated and analyzed. Sensor and eye calibration is automatically performed during the test. To identify spontaneous nystagmus in acute patients, spontaneous and gaze nystagmus tests are included as part of the VHIT package.
