The product, First Step Select™ Heavy Duty Mattress Overlay is helpful in distributing interface pressures and maintaining accurate skin temperature and level of moisture. The First Step Select Heavy Duty Mattress Overlay consists of Low Air Loss Therapy (LAL) and GORE® medical fabric which ensures prevention of skin breakdown. The product is capable of using as standard mattress for patients weighing up to 295 kg (650 lbs). Indications are in the range of 113 kg (250 lbs) and 295 kg (650 lbs) inclusive of the accessories. The product is appropriate for Bariatric patients who have the risk or are suffering from pressure ulcers. A bariatric patient who is using a static mattress is sure to benefit from pressure redistribution surface ensuring optimum comfort. The product is also useful in situations like contraindications, unstable cervical, thoracic and/or lumbar fractures, helping to soothe the patient.
