Position Summary
Receives and accurately processes surgical, diagnostic tissue or body fluid specimens from various hospital departments Performs histological procedures for the Pathology Department by cutting, staining and mounting of tissue specimens to provide data on the nature of disease or cause of death. Exercises independent judgment and responsibility with minimum supervision by the respective supervisor, Pathologist, or Laboratory Director. The technologist’s role subsumes all aspects of the technician’s role.
Position Qualifications
Minimum: Experience and/or education should relate to any combination recognized by State of Florida for license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. Histology Technologist.
Other Qualifications: One year as Medical Technologist in Histologist in an acute care hospitals laboratory preferred. Current Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist license in Histology. Preferred to have Supervisor’s license in Histology.
