ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Manager, Cardiac Services to support our Diagnostic Cardiology department at the McCandless location. Salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

Shift Details:

  • Monday - Friday
  • 7a - 3:30p or 8a - 4:30p
  • Will float from McCandless to Cranberry
  • Shifts will be further discussed during the interview

Purpose:

Manage daily operations and budget of above departments. Hire and maintain appropriate staff levels. Provide discipline to the staff. Manage policy and procedures of above department. Maintain records of Physician credentials.

Responsibilities:

  • Comply data necessary to complete a quarterly Invasive Procedure Report.
  • Collaborate with other services such as nursing, radiology and admissions to facilitate care and patient movement through the system. This includes coordinating patient schedules with nursing units, physician offices and admissions.
  • Maintain all outcomes and record for the Cardiac Cath Lab and cardiology testing.
  • Participate in continuing education for the purpose of self-development.
  • Work in a patient care area or diagnostic area where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust and the like.
  • Provide complete documentation related to such care before, during and after the procedure.
  • Attend all mandatory in-services and maintains CEU's required by regulatory agencies.
  • Is a resource person to staff and physicians.
  • Work cooperatively and cross train with associates to support area functions.
  • Monitor and record hemodynamic parameters during procedures.
  • Explain procedure to patient and family prior to the procedure.
  • Check emergency equipment and supplies necessary, and maintains appropriate stock levels in work areas for the day's operations.
  • Maintain radiation protection standards as outlined by the radiation Safety Officer of UPMC/McKeesport.
  • Ability to perform all functions in 302.1 and 302.2 job descriptions.
  • Utilize all specialized equipment in the department. (Medrad injector, IABP, IV pumps, hemochron, laser film printer, Doppler, noninvasive blood pressure, pulse oximetry, cardiac output computer, defibrillator, heart monitor, non-invasive and invasive pacemakers).
  • Participate in committee work as assigned.
  • Maintain and operate cine-fluoro and film processing equipment.
  • Participate in hospital and system committees.
  • High level of interaction with others required perfuming job duties.
  • Perform routine functions during simple and complex diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and also as a productive member of a team.
  • Track outcomes and complications and report to appropriate committees.
  • Provide constant individualized age specific nursing care throughout each procedure.
  • Ability to respect co workers and their privacy
  • Participate in professional organizations and continuing education for the development of self and staff.
  • Moderate level of risk of infection associated with patient contact.
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for the patient undergoing catheterization procedures.

  • Maintain all necessary staff and physician CEUs for licensure and accreditation.
  • Inspect or assign inspection of emergency equipment and supplies for the daily operation.
  • Round on patients and staff regularly using best practice strategies.
  • Collaborate with other services such as nursing, radiology and admissions to facilitate ease and care of patient throughput across the system. This includes coordinating patient schedules with nursing units, physician offices and admissions.
  • Follow standards set by Infection Control as a result of the Department of Health and JCAHO for proper conditions for the various non-invasive procedures.
  • Manage fiscal responsibilities for respective business units.
  • Utilize and monitor all specialized equipment in the department.
  • Oversee the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for Echocardiography in collaboration with the Lead Echo Technologist and Medical Director of the Echocardiography Department.
  • Maintain staff radiation protection standards as outlined by the radiation Safety Officer of UPMC Passavant.
  • Support the My Nursing and Imaging Career Ladders.
  • Collaborate with the PACS administrator regarding software updates and issues.
  • Complete staff evaluations within deadlines.
  • Serve as a resource person for staff and physicians.
  • Perform routine staff meetings with organized and relative agenda items.
  • Ability to work independently and as a productive member of the leadership team.
  • Meet routinely with the Clinical Director of Cardiovascular Services to report operational outcomes.
  • Complete financial reports within deadlines.
  • Assist staff when needed to perform routine functions during simple and complex diagnostic procedures.
  • Manage day to day operations in the DCTC, ECG and Call Center at McCandless and Cranberry Campuses.
  • Ongoing assessment of department operations for performance improvement opportunities.
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for the patient undergoing non-invasive cardiology testing.
  • Minimum 3 years experience.
  • BSN required/MSN or CNL preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
  • Exemplary clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
  • Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process.
  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity.
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients.
  • Demonstrated competence as a Professional Staff Nurse.
  • The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.
  • They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34
  • Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
