SEFAM is a French company specialized in the design, manufacture and distribution of diagnostic and treating equipment for sleep-disordered breathing. Our history The company SEFAM (Société d’Etude et de Fabrication d’Appareillage Médical in French or Society for the Study and Manufacture of Medical Equipment in English) was established by Pierrick Haan in 1982.

SEFAM entered the respiratory market for sleep disorders in 1985 with the development of the first continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device in Europe for the treatment of the Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSA). Between 1983 and 1994, SEFAM developed, manufactured and marketed innovative solutions for screening, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of the respiratory sleep disorders and respiratory failure: Different models of CPAP, Auto-CPAP and Bi-Levels (MiniP+, Rem+, Rem+ Control, REM+ range, Ventil+). Equipment for the diagnosis of respiratory sleep disorders (RESPISOMNOGRAPHE, Mini SOMNO).

Home ventilators and oxygen concentrators. In 1994 SEFAM was sold to Puritan Bennett, itself acquired by Nellcor in 1995, absorbed by Mallinckrodt in 1997, and then by Tyco in 2000. Tyco’s medical division was spun off in 2007 and became COVIDIEN. During all these years, the site of Nancy continued the development and manufacture of equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory sleep disorders (HypnoPTT, GoodKnight 418 range, GoodKnight 420 range, Sandman range). In 2009, COVIDIEN decided to opt out of the "treatment of the respiratory sleep disorders" market. Pierrick Haan acquires this business on August 28, 2010 and re-launches the SEFAM brand. The first post-acquisition year has been devoted to the reintegration of business functions outsourced by COVIDIEN (sales, after-sales service, information system, field sales force). The first anniversary of this new structure was celebrated by the market launch of a new range of devices for the treatment of respiratory sleep disorders: the DreamStarTM range.
