eHealth Week Day Two: Leading Riga Clinic Implements eHealth
Delegates at eHealth Week in Riga had the opportunity of a tour around one of the country’s state-of-the-art clinic which implements a no paper policy towards patient health records. The clinic is part of a network of hospitals which celebrates 21 years in operation this year.
Patient records are accessed entirely electronically. This process was not smooth at first but is running efficiently now. “It took most doctors about two weeks to get used to working entirely with electronic records,” clinic director, Andrejs Strods told HM.org. “Now they are comfortable with it and say it has increased efficacy.”
There is no legal obligation in Latvia for doctors across state and private medical care to use eRecords. The clinic offers a range of specialist treatments and sees 50 to 150 patients daily. Adults are private or insurance based while the paediatric section takes both state and private patients.
The facility is 100% Latvian owned, a source of great pride to staff and management.
