Part of the editorial board of Healthcare IT Management ever since its inception in 2005, Diane Whitehouse continues to enrich the quality of our publication with her valuable contribution.
Her career has covered the domains of action research, civic and human rights, publishing, and academia. Diane has degrees in European Studies (political science) and in information systems, and later undertook postgraduate research. She has researched and taught at university level in organisational theory and behaviour. As a social scientist, her work has focused on the social, organisational, and
ethical aspects of information and communications technologies (ICT) and, most recently, ICT for
 health.
She has eight years of European policy development at the European Commission (Brussels) in the domains of eAccessibility and eHealth. Recent work for the European Commission has concentrated on the Connecting Europe Facility, in the field of eHealth. Diane also works closely with the European Health Telematics Association (EHTEL) .
In 2007, Diane set up a United Kingdom-based consultancy, The Castlegate Consultancy: it concentrates on electronic services policy and consultancy, including eHealth. Clients include international policy organisations and business consultancies.
Diane Whitehouse is currently Chair of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP)'s technical committee 9 (TC9) on ICT and Society and IFIP's working group 9.2 on social accountability and computing.
This month, Diane's latest book on Managing eHealth: From Vision to Reality will be launched by Palgrave Macmillan, co-edited with colleagues Magda Rosenmöller and Petra Wilson.
