Research is an integral part of our radiological practice. Whether you’re conducting your own studies or implementing research findings in your daily clinical routine, it is important to know about the fundamentals of radiological research. This new season of the Fundamentals of Radiological Research Course addresses current hot topics in the clinical and research arena: value-based medicine, biomarkers and artificial intelligence. Each session is led by luminaries in the field and includes ample time for questions from the audience. The course will conclude with two Open Forum Sessions at ECR 2025.

Image analysis methodologies

It is increasingly common to use a quantitative approach for radiological research using computational and automated methods. Imaging data are processed with algorithms and pipelines, and often need to be stored outside PACS to enable such processing. In this session, the various approaches to image analysis are discussed together with potential concerns such as data security.

Learning objectives:

  • To understand the concepts and commonly used terminology of image analysis methodologies.
  • To learn about the important pitfalls and concerns with automated image analysis.

This course is only accessible for ESR Members. Please login to check your member status.
