Dr Lawrence Lai, Chair of the IHF Awards Committee, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the calibre of entries in the IHF Awards 2025 programme:

“The world’s health systems, and their leaders, face mounting pressures – including workforce shortages, financial constraints, climate resilience, and digital transformation – which they must tackle alongside the daunting challenges and need to continually improve clinical quality and patient safety. Across every category in this year’s IHF Awards, we’ve seen entries that excelled and succeeded not only in responding to today’s urgent challenges but also actively reshaping the future of hospital leadership and healthcare services. The shortlisted finalists in particular are setting new milestones and standards, inspiring us all to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in delivering optimal care to better serve our patients and communities.

On behalf of the Awards Committee, I wish to express our heartfelt thanks to each and every hospital and healthcare organization for submitting their entries to compete for the Awards this year, to all the sponsors for supporting and making the Awards possible, and to each member of the Awards Committee for their unfailing commitment to meticulously select this year’s very worthy IHF Awards finalists from amongst the many excellent entries.”

The shortlisted projects and programme in each category exemplify the innovation, good practice, and service improvement transforming the healthcare sector in IHF Member organizations across the globe. The IHF Awards recognize and amplify exemplary work that improves the level, standard, quality, operational efficiency and sustainability of healthcare service delivery. This annual Awards showcasing excellence in hospital leadership and management is one of the core programmes by which the IHF fulfils its commitment to promoting knowledge sharing and exchange for its members and the global healthcare community.

The judging process involved an extensive review by members of the Awards Committee, comprising 61 healthcare leaders and senior executives from around the world. The scoring for the 7 Excellence Awards is based on five criteria: originality and innovation; intended impact; adaptability and scalability; scientific rigour; and clarity. For the Grand Hospital Award, entries were scored based on overall success in achieving the five dimensions of healthcare delivery (health service quality, patient experience, clinical outcomes and health equity, cost efficiency, and workforce wellbeing), as well as ability to sustain their success, and achievements.
