The high reliability journey requires a commitment to think about safety much differently than we have before. Organizations will progress when they stop emphasizing individual error and move toward understanding the larger framework that governs behavior. In health care, individual performance is best understood within a system defined by inherent risks. Our goal as safety leaders is to design effective mitigation strategies based on an understanding of how system design and human performance interact to create this risk. An essential piece of safety culture is establishing a just culture in which we evaluate individual actions within the larger organizational context.

To learn more, attend “Developing a Reporting Culture” on Tuesday, May 28, from 9-10 a.m. (PT)/10-11 a.m. (MT)/11 a.m.-noon (CT)/noon-1 p.m. (ET). During this follow-up webinar to Sentinel Event Alert 60, “Developing a reporting culture: Learning from close calls and hazardous conditions,” you will hear from patient safety experts about their path to establish a just culture and the key role it played in a much broader commitment to high reliability. Understand common challenges that organizations face when they attempt to replace their old way of thinking about human performance with systems thinking.

If you can't make it, register anyway. We'll send you a recording and other valuable resources.

Space is limited for this webinar. Registration will close when we have reached maximum capacity. This webinar will be recorded. If you are unable to participate, a replay of the webinar with presentation slides will be available on The Joint Commission website approximately 5-7 business days following the program.
