New Working Group on e-Cardiology Launched

The European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC)Working Group on e-Cardiology are proudly announcing the collaboration between the two communities. This decision comes after a recent meeting of the Working Group nucleus with the president of EHRA, Angelo Auricchio. In order to cope with its mission - To improve the quality of life of the European population by reducing the impact of cardiac arrhythmias and reduce sudden cardiac death – the EHRA Board felt it important to include in its activities key aspects covered by the ESC Working Group on e-Cardiology.  The scope of the ESC Working Group on e-Cardiology encompasses the wide area of specialised computer methods in cardiovascular image processing (quantitative angiography, intravascular ultrasound, echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance), image fusion, bio-signal processing (ECG analysis, arrhythmia detection), signal modeling, databases, and intra- and inter-hospital communication (internet, telemedicine, IHE).The Working Group on e-Cardiology appreciates the importance of collaboration with other communities within the ESC. For a number of years, the Working Group has been joining forces with other imaging groups in the Council of Cardiovascular Imaging, and has organised sessions during the EuroEcho congresses, in collaboration with the European Association of Echocardiography (EAE).The Working Group on e-Cardiology represents the second ESC Working Group with which EHRA has officially agreed to collaborate. Indeed, under the presidency of Professor Panos Vardas, EHRA entered into an official agreement with the ESC Working Group on Cardiac Cellular Electrophysiology. EHRA and the two Working Groups have agreed to jointly conduct the EHRA 2013 scientific meeting in June 2013.
