VKD- Vereinigung der Krankenhausdirektoren Deutschlands (German Association of Hospital Managers) is calling for protests on September 20th!
Is it deliberate or simply ignorance? The German comprehensive hospital care is in grave danger, yet it appears the coalition government (SPD, FDP, Bündnis90/Die Grünen) is entirely unconcerned. Hospital insolvencies are becoming increasingly evident. The situation will deteriorate further next year. The German people are growing increasingly uneasy – and rightly so. Many now recognise that their local hospital could also be at risk. It's five minutes to midnight!
All of us in the hospitals are collectively protesting against the reckless inaction of the federal government and demanding action from them. To emphasize our point, we will assemble on September 20th in Berlin – at 11 o'clock at the Brandenburg Gate – and in the state capitals, to make it abundantly clear that the healthcare of patients is at risk in the coming year.
A government that permits this is gambling with the health, and indeed the lives, of many citizens. Hospitals have not landed in this economically perilous situation through their own fault. Politics is withholding from them the necessary inflation adjustment, which they cannot cover themselves through higher prices due to legal regulations, and as a result, they are accumulating more and more debt.
Simultaneously, they are being left to cope with impending wage increases alone. Here, too, the federal government is refusing the sustained and complete funding that would necessitate a change in the law.
Therefore: VKD IS RAISING THE RED ALERT! WE DEMAND FROM THE GOVERNMENT, to fulfil their legal obligation and ensure that hospitals can pay their employees the deserved wage increases in 2024, combined with a genuine inflation adjustment.
