Sonography has now become an integral part of anesthesia, intensive care medicine and pain therapy. By formulating curricula, DGAI and DEGUM have created appropriate framework conditions for qualified training,

and further training in this sector.

The Westfalen-Lippe Medical Association sees the "acquisition of knowledge, experience and skills in ultrasound examinations for punctures and injections of nerves and / or vessels as well as intensive care issues" as an obligatory component of specialist training and has firmly anchored this formulation in the further training regulations.
