European Society of Cardiovascular Imaging (ESCR) Annual Scientific Meeting 2019

It is our honour and pleasure to welcome you at the ESCR Annual Scientific Meeting 2019, this time taking place in the city of Antwerp, Belgium.

As always, this event constitutes the most important meeting for non-invasive cardiac and cardiovascular radiologists in Europe, bringing together colleagues from all over the world to share their knowledge and experience in a friendly atmosphere.

Radiology has always been a rapidly evolving specialty, closely linked to technical innovations but also actively contributing to a better understanding of pathophysiological processes in a wide variety of diseases. This is actually especially true in the field of non-invasive cardiovascular imaging, where new techniques including e.g. parametric MR mapping for tissue characterisation, non-invasive CT-based fraction flow reserve calculations, and evolving insights in the evaluation and treatment of valvular heart disease with CT/MR are leading to improved diagnostic possibilities and better patient care. The current annual meeting will provide plenty of opportunities to learn the latest insights into cutting-edge clinical imaging applications, not only through lectures by respected speakers, but also through a variety of dedicated workshops on contemporary topics. Finally, the rise of artificial intelligence and big data is undeniable, with a growing impact on the workflow and position of the radiologist. Dedicated sessions will provide the necessary insights relevant to clinical practice.

We are also very proud to, for the first time, provide special sessions co-organised by our new ESCR Young Club. This Young Club, introduced during the ESTI/ESCR 2018 meeting, constitutes the latest initiative of the ESCR to reach out to young members, giving them a platform for discussion and education. While the ESCR meeting remains an event covering the latest imaging insights, basic refresher courses will not be forgotten, delivered with the same high quality and attention to detail as you are used from the ESCR.

As you will undoubtedly experience, Antwerp is one of Europe’s top destinations for a city trip, offering an irresistible mix of high-end gastronomy, culture, history and a shopping area stretching all the way from the venue’s location to the harbour. Given the excellent location of the chosen venue, you can experience all this without the use of any public transportation.
