Company Profile Welcome to the Institute of Applied Medical Engineering ! The defining feature of our institute is the pursuit of a future-oriented biomedical engineering research profile, combining conventional medical engineering with natural sciences, and especially with biosciences. To this end RWTH Aachen offers an exceptional opportunity with its combined expertise in the technical faculties, the natural sciences faculty and the medical faculty within the University Hospital. Our team consists of medical scientists, engineers, physicists, information scientists and chemists, working closely together in more than 60 R&D projects. Arising from these co-operations is an extensive catalogue of jointly-supervised engineering, natural-sciences and medical dissertations. Our R&D-projects comprise of modelling, construction, prototyping, experimental validation and preclinical testing of biomedical products and also the technical support of innovative methods and products for the clinical environment. Our co-operations include a great variety of national and international industrial and academic partners. The institute is part of the working group “Helmholtz-Institut für Biomedizinische Technik” of RWTH Aachen University.
