Through collaborations with a worldwide network of research and innovation, BME was introduced to memory metal compression bone staples and soon became the first to market heat-activated shape memory devices in the United States.InnovationNot satisfied, BME decided to take the concept one step further and develop the ability to control the compressive forces these implants exert. In order to make the system suitable for a vast variety of applications under varying degrees of bone qualities, we created and patented the OSSforceTM Implant Controller.ManufacturingThe next step was to bring all manufacturing activities in-house in order to ensure the best quality control possible while protecting our intellectual property. BME remains the only U.S. manufacturer of Nitinol bone staples.
