What are your key areas of interest and research?
I
am fascinated with pathophysiology in general. As an illustrator, I enjoy the
opportunity to express my creativity and explore how the human body works. I
feel lucky to be a PA in the field of internal medicine, where I get to help
patients with a wide spectrum of issues. It’s very rewarding to take the time
to explain why certain things are happening in a patient’s disease process. I’ve found that they appreciate
understanding what the ramifications of their illness could be, rather than
just stating the facts. I constantly challenge myself to explore the why of
medicine in new and interesting ways.

Listen
and learn from everyone, no matter what position they may be in the “hierarchy”
of your organisation.
What would you single out as a career highlight?
Having
the opportunity to educate future and current health care professionals
through the use of my artwork.
If you had not chosen this career path what do you think you would have become?
A
cartoonist for Pixar during the week and a stand-up comedian on Saturday nights.
What are your personal interests outside of work?
I
have some of the best friends in the world and they’re a lot of fun to hang out
with when I’m not busy at work or drawing.
