Dr. Karl-Heinz Kuck, MD, PhD is President of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) and serves as a Director of Cardiology at Allgemeines Krankenhaus St. Georg in Hamburg, Germany. 

Dr. Kuck has also served as the Head of the 2nd Medical Department (Cardiology) of the St. Georg Hospital since September 1, 1994 and the Temporary Head of the Department of Cardiology of the University Hospital Eppendorf (UHE) in Hamburg, Germany since June 1, 1992. He is also an Assistant Professor at the Department of Cardiology at UHE.

Dr. Kuck studied medicine at the University of Cologne. He worked as an assistant in the Cardiology Department at UHE and served as a visiting doctor in the Department of Electrophysiology, University Hospital Maastricht, Limburg in the Netherlands. 

Dr. Kuck trained as a specialist in Internal Medicine and a specialist in Cardiology at UHE. He was the youngest professor in Germany at that time. 

Dr. Kuck is a specialist in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and is known for his use of the method of catheter ablation. Dr. Kuck has received several medical awards including the Arthur Weber Prize of the German Society of Cardiology - Heart and Circulatory Research (1995), the Franz Loogen prize of the University of Essen (1999), an Honorary Doctorate of Semmelweis University Budapest in Hungary (2009), the William Einthoven prize of Leiden University in the Netherlands (2010), the Badge of Honour in Silver German Society of Cardiology - Heart and Circulatory Research (2011) and the Science Prize of the Gertrud Spitz Foundation "for his pioneering work in the field of Rhythmology in research, education and patient care" (2012).

Dr. Kuck serves as Chair of the International Scientific Advisory Board at Topera Inc. and has been a Member of Medical Advisory Board of ReCor Medical Inc. since September 2012. He also serves as a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board at Stereotaxis Inc., Cardialysis B.V., and Endosense SA and as a Member of Clinical Advisory Board of ProRhythm Inc. 

Dr. Kuck serves as a Director of II Med. Klinik, Abteilung für Kardiologie, AKH St. Georg in Hamburg, Germany. He has served as a board member of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) for the past four years and prior to his appointment as EHRA President. 

Dr. Kuck has treated several notable celebrities including Nobel laureate Gunter Grass, German rock singer Udo Lindenberg and English pop star David Bowie.
