Regionshospitalet Silkeborg, a Danish hospital in Falkevej, has won the inaugural TMC Radiology Quality Award for 2014 during a ceremony held recently at the European Congress of Radiology in Vienna.

The TMC Radiology Quality Award is launched by Telemedicine Clinic, the leading European provider of teleradiology services, and will be handed out annually from now on.

Created in order to highlight the work achieved by professionals, individuals or groups at radiology departments across Europe, who have successfully implemented methods, systems or processes with a demonstrated positive quality impact, this new award consists of a diploma and a prize of €10,000.

Dr Hans Billing, Medical Director at Telemedicine Clinic, hopes the award will provide encouragement for radiology departments to continue to both innovate and implement quality assurance and improvement initiatives in their areas.

He added that having the opportunity to work with close to 100 radiology departments in several European countries, they frequently encountered several good examples of such initiatives.

Viewing solid solutions for quality assurance and improvement within radiology as very important, Telemedicine Clinic has gathered an international jury of renowned industry personalities including Chairman of the team Iain McCall, UK,  Peter Aspelin, Sweden, Lluis Donoso, Spain, Jarl Jakobsen, Norway, Peter Mildenberger, Germany, Emanuele Neri, Italy and Elisabeth Schouman-Claeys from France, to determine the most outstanding contribution to quality assurance and improvement in a hospital’s radiology department.
