This will be the fifth AACR Special Conference on pancreatic cancer in the last decade. According to the U.S. National Cancer Institute, pancreatic cancer will account for approximately 43,000 deaths in 2017 and, although it will account for just 3.2% of all new cancer cases, pancreatic cancer will account for 7.2% of all cancer deaths. Despite advances in recent years, the five-year survival rate is still just 8.2%, making pancreatic cancer one of the hardest-to-treat cancers.
The Conference Cochairs have selected topics that span basic, translational, and clinical pancreatic cancer research, including sessions on imaging and diagnostics that have the potential to directly impact survival rates. Other topics that will be presented include genetic testing, immunology and immunotherapy, management of local disease, metabolism and metabolomics, precision medicine, signaling and oncogenes, and the tumor microenvironment.

The program will conclude with a panel discussion that will focus on multi-national initiatives in pancreatic cancer clinical trials. With ongoing support from both the Lustgarten Foundation and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, we anticipate that many of the leading researchers and clinicians in pancreatic cancer will participate in the program, and we hope that you register today to take part in what will be the must-attend event for pancreatic cancer researchers.
