The Mount Sinai Health System has been named a 2015 "Most Wired" organisation by the American Hospital Association and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. The benchmark is considered to be a leading industry barometer that measures IT use and adoption among hospitals nationwide. 

The organistation has been recognised for its innovative use of information technology and its implementation of IT initiatives in the areas of infrastructure, quality, safety, and clinical integration.

Davis, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Mount Sinai Health System. “Information technology is a key component of improving the patient experience and helping to ensure good patient outcomes. From bedside apps for our inpatients to remote consults and other services via our Telehealth offerings, innovation in IT makes the change from fee-for-service health care to population health management possible. We congratulate our IT staff on a job truly well done.”

Comprising of seven hospitals and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, the Mount Sinai Health System has successfully focused on providing an integrated and value-based care delivery system. The organisation is committed to utilising information technology in order to facilitate the exchange of information across care settings. It has invested in electronic health record systems, facilitating communication between patients and providers, creating platforms to seamlessly share information between clinicians across multiple facilities, and leveraging new technologies.

Mount Sinai is the only academic medical center in New York City to be selected for this award as pointed out by Kumar Chatani, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Mount Sinai Health System. He explains that improving patient outcomes continues to remain a top priority for the healthcare organisation.  

CHIME CEO and President Russell P. Branzell, FCHIME CHCIO also  commended this year’s Most Wired hospitals and their CIOs for improving care delivery and outcomes and by demonstrating excellence in IT leadership.

HealthCare’s Most Wired™ Survey, conducted between January 15 and March 15, 2015, is published annually by Health & Hospitals Network. Respondents completed 741 surveys, representing more than 39 percent of all U.S. hospitals.
