The IT and medical technology company Sectra has signed a ten year contract to supply a fully hosted private health cloud service for radiology, breast imaging and a wide range of other medical imaging to Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London. Through this investment the hospitals will benefit from communicating medical images and information rapidly and efficiently with personnel from both within the organization and with other external healthcare units for improved quality of care. 

With the private health cloud service, Sectra takes full responsibility for the trust’s imaging IT systems, generating major cost and operational benefits for the hospitals as well as providing a more resilient, scalable and secure solution.

Opting for a PACS-driven workflow Guy’s and St. Thomas’ will provide their radiologists with a single workstation for all their reporting needs. The solution from Sectra will also make it easy to share patient information and radiology images with other healthcare organizations. Direct sharing will be possible with organizations which use Sectra’s solution, sharing with organizations which have procured other vendors’ imaging solutions will be possible using Sectra’s Image Exchange Portal Connect and Share solution. This solution enables similarly efficient and secure sharing of images and patient information, thus eliminating any manual requests and transfers required in current processes.

Other sites in London using Sectra PACS includes Kings College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, the Barts Health NHS Trust, The Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospital Trust, The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust, London North West Healthcare NHS Trust and Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
