Global Embolization | Symposium & Technologies

Statistics show that embolization treatment options continue to grow worldwide. Indications include peripheral vascular disease, aortic disease, uterine fibroids, trauma, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, vascular malformations, liver cancer and a host of other medical conditions. In response, physicians in a variety of fields have embraced embolization as an essential and growing part of their practices. To meet the needs of these physicians GEST serves as the definitive embolotherapy resource, providing both clinically relevant updates from the field, as well as live education activities.

GEST 2016 U.S. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, the learner should be able to:

  • Compare the relative advantages and timing of different endoleak therapies and develop algorithms to choose among them.

  • Assess current data and evidence-based algorithms for evaluation of non-traumatic bleeding and transcatheter therapy.

  • Determine interventional oncologic therapy decisions based on the latest evidence, established patient care standards, and multidisciplinary approaches.

  • Describe the latest imaging technique that may help in assessment of liver cancer treatment using embolization.

  • Describe the latest options and differences in function, characteristics, and potential outcomes of various devices for embolization.

  • Discuss the new therapeutic options using embolization in thyroid Graves’ disease, hemorrhoid-related bleeding, and chronic shoulder pain.

  • Discuss basic and variant prostate artery anatomy and techniques to identify critical vasculature during therapy.

  • Assess patient symptoms and treatment options for symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia, including drug treatment, surgery, and embolization.

  • Explain the indications and results of uterine fibroid and adenomyosis embolization.

  • Summarize the advantages, limitations, technical aspects, and endpoints of various tools and approaches to visceral aneurysm treatment.

  • Outline treatment options and material choice when treating arteriovenous malformations.

TARGET AUDIENCE

GEST 2016 U.S. will be of value to interventional radiologists, oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, nurses, radiology technologists, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals interested in the field of embolization.
