New Insights on AKI Management and Renal Recovery in Critically Ill Patients

Chair
Dr. Sean Bagshaw (University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada)

Program

CRRT for AKI: Effects on Renal Recovery
  • Dr. Antoine Schneider (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, Lausanne, Switzerland)

Clinical Benefits of Integrated Regional Citrate Anticoagulation during CRRT
  • Dr. Patrick Saudan (Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève, Geneva, Switzerland)

The clinical evidence related to the management of critically ill patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) evolves steadily. In this symposium, experts will focus on two recent developments specifically in the area of renal replacement therapy (RRT) for AKI. The first presentation will discuss emerging data that establish an association between the initial use of intermittent RRT and long-term dialysis dependence in AKI survivors. The second presentation will cover clinical and technical aspects of integrated regional citrate anticoagulation during CRRT, with particular emphasis on its clinical benefits over systemic anticoagulation with heparin.

Time: 12:30–14:00
Venue: Room Brussels
