Charles E. Daniels, PhD, FASHP, pharmacist-in-chief for UC San Diego Health System, is this year's recipient of the prestigious John W. Dr. Daniels has always focused on finding solutions to issues and problems confronting health-system pharmacists which, according to McKerrow, include "medication safety, cost-effective use of medications, and increased efficiency of health-system operations."

Dr. Daniels is set to present his award lecture in October 2014 at the ASHP Conference for Leaders in Health-System Pharmacy and as visiting professor in hospital pharmacy at Northeastern University.
