The British Institute of Radiology (BIR) is proud to announce that the first issue of BJR|case reports, is available from today. The new journal will be published quarterly and as part of the BIR|Open initiative, all articles are open access and free for everyone to read as soon as they are published.

The first issue of BJR|case reports contains eight articles featuring the following topics: delayed diagnosis of lung cancer;  stand up paddle surfer’s myelopathy; Rosai–Dorfman disease of the breast; congenital nasal pyriform aperture stenosis; acute paraumbilical vein recanalization; the management of severe emphysematous pyelonephritis; granulomatous slack skin cutaneous T-cell lymphoma and benign periosteal chondroma seeding into bone. Professor Giuseppe Guglielmi, Editor-in-Chief said, “I look forward to the exciting times ahead, growing and developing the journal into an open resource and destination for novel, original and educational case reports for the radiology and radiation sciences community.”

BJR|case reports has received a positive response since submissions opened in December 2014 with over 200 articles submitted from 28 different countries. With an editorial board of international experts, articles undergo the same rigorous peer review and uphold the same high-quality publication standards as BJR, the BIR’s flagship journal.

Case reports, case reviews and technical notes in all areas of radiology and the related sciences are welcomed and can be submitted at www.editorialmanager.com/bjrcr. As an introductory offer, the BIR will waive all article publication charges until the end of 2015.
