For the first time in its history, the British Institute of Radiology (BIR) will hold the Annual Radiotherapy and Oncology Meeting online. Bringing together experts from around the world to share their views on a broad range of aspects relevant to radiotherapy and oncology, the Meeting will run in two parts, from 17-19 March and 24-26 March 2021.
During part one, the keynote talks will headline each session, covering topic areas such as: particle therapy, MR guided radiotherapy, AI, machine learning, big data, adaptive therapy as well as manufacturers presentations.
This year, the keynote speakers are Professor Jean Bourhis, Chief of Radiation Oncology Service, Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) who will speak on “FLASH Radiotherapy”; Professor Michael Baumann, Chairman and Scientific Director German Cancer Research Centre speaking on “Radiation Oncology in the era of personalised medicine”; and Professor Heidi Probst.Professor of Radiotherapy and Oncology, Sheffield Hallam University, speaking on “Why patient experience matters: Insights from research in radiotherapy and oncology”.
For part two, keynote talks will cover topic areas such as: hypofractionation, clinical trials, strategy, policy, workforce and proffered oral presentations.
In addition, there will be electronic posters and video clips available in an online format, which can be viewed anytime from a computer, laptop or mobile device. Participants will have the opportunity to meet socially with the sponsors. The full programme can be found on the BIR website.
