3D Systems and Stryker have announced an exclusive distribution partnership for VSP® (Virtual Surgical Planning) and anatomical models for the craniomaxillofacial specialty. This partnership is expected to promote the availability of personalised surgical planning and techniques to healthcare professionals. This, in turn, is expected to save both patients and surgeons hours in the operating room.
VSP technology was originally established by 3D Systems and was approved by the FDA as a service-based approach to personalised surgery. The VSP technology combines expertise in medical imaging, 3D printing, and surgical simulation. Surgeons can bring their clinical knowledge and their surgical plan to an online meeting with a 3D Systems biomedical engineer and can simulate and plan the entire surgical procedure. This would provide them with a digital plan that can then be transferred to the operating room via 3D printed models, guides, and templates.

3D Systems has already provided VSP in more than 100,000 cases while Stryker’s Craniomaxillofacial business provides patient-specific options and innovative solutions to promote efficiency in surgical suites. This new partnership will capitalise on Stryker’s specialised sales force with 3D Systems’ cutting-edge 3D printing and patient-specific solutions positions and will be able to provide a superior level of service to healthcare professionals. The partnership will also support the evolving needs of patients and accelerate innovation in the field of personalised medicine.
