The Manager, Inpatient Care Management, will lead the operations of Optum’s inpatient care management functions and personnel for a specific ministry.  The Manager is responsible for leading a team of professionals in both remote and onsite case management services including business operations, technology, human capital, legal, innovation and transformation for the ministry. Optum leaders are expected to be hands-on with project design, deliverable creation and implementation support for customers.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads the inpatient care management function for ministry
  • Accountable for the performance of frontline and remote staff within the inpatient care management function to add and development
  • Creates a trusted partner relationship with client and Optum executives and is seen as a partner in the successful design and implementation of the Optum inpatient care management program
  • Serves as the primary day-to-day contact for SSM ministries, including reviewing the work of the inpatient care management staff
  • Leads and participates in qualitative and quantitative assessments, project plan development, and key deliverable development for identified opportunities with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Develops and delivers clear and concise updates to senior leadership at SSM and within Optum
  • Continuously monitors performance against service level agreements and key performance indicators; routinely reports performance results to client and Optum leadership
  • Monitors budget and return on investment progress to ensure meeting contractual agreement
  • Participates as a member of various Optum teams to create innovative solutions associated with the strategic development of client programs

Required Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in the state
  • 3+ years of acute care inpatient care management
  • Demonstrated self-starter with strong planning organization, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Experience developing clinical transformation methodologies and designing innovative solutions in a complex and rapidly changing environment
