As an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for setting strategy and providing governance related to Environmental Health & Safety Standards (EHSS) and providing day-to-day support delivery of environment programs in the major company site(s).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance to line organizations in the completion of risk assessments and investigations.

  • Enhancement of site Safety and Environmental Standard Operating Procedures. Research, draft and prepare local policies and procedures for compliance with GSK EHS Standards

  • Gather and collect data related to EHS objectives, metrics and targets that reflect local needs and are aligned with GSK and legal expectations.

  • Proactively identify and support actions necessary to ensure these are achieved.

  • Monitoring Audit programs to assess compliance with legal and GSK requirements and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop / Give Training to comply with GSK, OSHA and EPA requirements. Provide coaching on EHS risks and programs.

  • Champion a strong Safety culture across the site and maximize personnel involvement in EHS related activities.

  • Conduct and document Work Place Risk assessments/ Job Safety Analysis, action plans and implementation of related corrective measures.

  • Ensure that necessary EHS information is reported to local regulators and to stakeholders within GSK

  • Conduct investigations into serious adverse events.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Occupational Safety, Biology, Safety Engineering, other science-related fields

  • 2 + years of experience as safety professional with expertise in OSHA regulations. And to provide support to operations and facilities to ensure compliance with safety programs and procedures.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives

  • Experience working in positions requiring strong customer focus

  • Experience of OSHA safety and health regulations in general industry (29 CFR Part 1910) and construction (29 CFR Part 1926).

  • Experience in the development, implementation, and management of programs related to high risk/high hazard management, risk assessments and control, processes and hazardous agents, health and wellbeing programs, security, and emergency response. 

  • Experience of risk management in construction projects.

  • Experience in Environmental Compliance.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
