Position: Clinical Nurse Specialist Neurology

 

Location: Aberdeen

 

Salary: £43,458 - £47,144 plus up to 60% enhancements for unsociable hours

 

Contract: Permanent, Full and part time available

 

About the role:

Reporting to the Head of Care, the Clinical Nurse Specialist will lead the development, management and promotion of the service ensuring the delivery of high quality, cost-effective care, which will be achieved by empowering and facilitating all other professionals to meet the complex care needs of patients, and their carers by contributing to education and promoting the principles and philosophy of neurological care and rehabilitation.

 

As Clinical Nurse Specialist, your duties will include:

• Provide holistic specialist care for patients appropriate to their needs, wishes and culture. This will include clinical assessment, planning care, monitoring progress, requesting appropriate investigations, and acting on the results
• Communicating with other professionals’ outcomes of assessment and making referrals to other members of the multidisciplinary team as required
• Work in partnership with patients and carers to enable them to make informed choices and to identify and promote strategies to adapt to life changing and limiting situations
• Using verbal and written communication and negotiating skills breaking down barriers to understanding with various individuals
• Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient’s needs are met, especially in relation to on-going and continuity of care
• To promote choice in all aspects of clinical practice reviewing and making suggestions to enhance the patient experience and enabling concerns and complaints to be raised freely by patients and their representatives
• Ensure care is evidence based and within national and Sue Ryder policies, procedures and professional bodies guidance
• To promote an organisational culture where staff are empowered to challenge inappropriate behaviour and unsafe practice using appropriate organisational processes via line manager or by using our internal whistle blowing policy

 About you:

To be successful in this role, you will be a registered nurse who is passionate about providing the best possible care within the specialist field of neurology. You will be able to display excellent leadership skills, both to staff and patients, whilst being able to work collaboratively in order to garner the best results every time. Being a real self-starter, you will be able to show us that you can work in a self-directed and highly-motivated manner.

Although they have existing ways of doing things, they are always looking to improve, so you will ideally be comfortable challenging the status quo with evidence-based suggestions for improvement.

The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills whilst being adept at all relevant technology systems.

Above all else, you will be a dedicated, caring individual who is comfortable leading form the front and improving service.
