The Executive Director Orthopedics Services organizes, develops and maintains accountability for the strategic and operational goals and direction of the Yakima Valley Memorial orthopedics system of care. Maintains a focus on a local, comprehensive orthopedic program that delivers high quality care and outstanding patient and family experience. Leads the management of the orthopedic system of care, serves as the orthopedics business content expert, and coordinates the staff and financial resources to ensure the orthopedics system of care operates efficiently, effectively, safely, and in a timely manner.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational and Team Leadership

  1. Serves as the lead administrator for Orthopedics Services, and partners with the designated physician leaders.
  2. Facilitates a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and accountability across disciplines within the service.
  3. Participates as needed in the planning, development, and implementation of health care system initiatives in monitoring outcomes, regulatory compliance, and clinical quality performance.
  4. Develops and markets expanded and/or new services in response to innovation, technology, strategic developments, or compensation consistent with the goals of the clinical service.
  5. Partners with other key departments to develop short and long-range strategic plans for the service, operating and capital budgets, and an integrated strategic and financial plan.
  6. Oversees ongoing development and implementation of the Orthopedics strategic plan and assures linkage to YVM’s overall strategy.
  7. Develops goals and performance metrics, assures alignment of performance metrics among teams, and tracks progress in achievement.
  8. Establishes leadership accountability and effective communication channels within assigned departments and across patient care areas. Collaborates directly with the VP, Specialty Services leaders, physician leaders and other interdisciplinary department leaders to coordinate clinical care and assists with critical clinical/business decisions related to oncology services.
  9. Partners and supports the development of annual and capital budgets.
  10. Establishes and monitors productivity levels and standards to ensure optimal utilization of staff and resources, and to improve cost and service performance.

 

 

Business Development

  1. Understands and optimizes all orthopedic contracts and service agreements.
  2. Coordinates with YVM strategy team on approaches for market strategy, service offerings, and clinical programs.
  3. Leads the growth and development of orthopedics and YVM’s owned and aligned operating sites.
  4. In collaboration with YVM’s stratewgy team, conducts a comprehensive physician resource assessment. Identifies and cultivates additional physician growth opportunities consistent with the service line and site-specific physician needs.
  5. Oversees the development of a common portfolio of orthopedics services and determines appropriate future investment priorities for orthopedics programs and technologies.
  6. Partners with owned and affiliated sites of care on the development of specific clinical programs and services that meet population health goals, define community need and fit the overall oncology strategic plan.
  7. In collaboration with the strategy team, conducts competitor assessments and assesses market threats and opportunities.
  8. Partners with strategy, marketing, and communications to assure appropriate public positioning and branding of orthopedics services.
  9. Maintains expertise in quantitative analysis to support definition and advancement for YVM goals and objectives.

 

Orthopedics Services Leadership

  1. Maintains responsibility for programmatic growth, alignment, and potential acquisitions. Evaluates, develops, and adapts clinical/business processes for the orthopedic continuum of care.
  2. Evaulates, develops, and adapts clinical/business processes for the orthopedic continuum of care.
  3. Partners with Medical Group for physician recruitment.
  4. Partners to establish appropriate database registries, certifications, and external benchmark reasons to deliver high quality, outstanding local care.
  5. Establishes and monitors key metrics including benchmarks for clinical quality and patient oriented care to ensure top decile rankings of performance for oncology care. Drives standardization and adherence to evidence based best practices.
  6. Cultivates physician relationships and collaborate with organization resources and community partners to position YVM as a leader in comprehensive, local orthopedics care.
  7. Partners with physician lead to implement clinical standards and programs as well as new programs and services, in an efficient/cost-effective manner to provide a unified approach to care delivery.
  8. Coordinates with physician leadership to identify clinical and non-clinical technology, software, and equipment needs in support of the service line.
  9. Identifies necessary resources for patient care and programmatic development.
  10. Acts as the liaison with Executive Team, physicians, Board of Directors members and external stakeholders.

 

 

Regulatory Compliance

  1. Provides oversight and ensures compliance with policies, procedures and standards developed to ensure quality management and adherence to State and Federal guidelines. Leads teams to achieve and maintain orthopedics specific accreditations.
  2. Ensures accreditation, regulatory standards and registry reporting requirements are achieved and maintained continuously.
  3. Maintains updated knowledge of regulatory, legal, reimbursement changes, and industry trends.
