Philips and e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) have signed an agreement to distribute and promote online learning, via the Philips Learning Centre, to healthcare professionals around the world.
e-LfH partners with a number of professional bodies in the UK, including among others the College of Radiographers, the Royal College of Radiologists and the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Together, they provide high quality continuing medical education (CME) content to healthcare professionals across the UK. The first courses from e-LfH available on the Philips platform cover Image Interpretation in adults and children and will be launched at the International Paediatric Radiology Congress, London, 27-31 May, 2011.
“The innovative nature of the Philips Learning Centre means that CME need no longer be restricted to the workplace. Users across the world can benefit from a wealth of materials and clinical information online. Healthcare professionals can be selective in their learning and are able to undertake it at their own pace, wherever they are,” said Dr Julia Moore, National Director, e-Learning for Healthcare.
The Philips Learning Centre currently hosts over 650 learning activities covering a wide range of subject areas, from cardiology and oncology, to radiology and women’s health. The content is continually updated, highly engaging and professionally validated. The initial courses from e-Learning for Healthcare available on the Philips Learning Centre will be focused on image interpretation, with an expanding range of courses to come.
Professor Audrey Paterson, Director of Professional Policy of the UK Society and College of Radiographers said “The Image Interpretation programme consists of 100 units covering the adult and paediatric musculo-skeletal systems and the adult chest. The College of Radiographers has drawn on the knowledge of a range of academic and clinical experts to develop this world-class e-learning programme. It will support a range of clinical practitioners in developing their image interpretation skills, with a view to advising on the initial management of the patient when a formal clinical report may not be immediately available.”
