Yves Menu, who is French and in charge of the Presidency of the next European Congress of Radiology, is hoping to attract many French people to the ECR in March 2011 and that it will represent the strength and presence of the French community within radiology. ECR 2011 will take place in Vienna from Thursday 3 March to Monday, 7 March 2011 and according to Professor Menu, there are two main reasons for attending:

Anyone who has already attended the Vienna congress would agree that it is an excellent event – both from a scientific and educational point of view and the technical exhibition has expanded every year. Professor Menu believes that France, the leading radiology community in Europe, should also be one of the major players in European imaging. European imaging is developing and it is better that France is included, rather than left out, in this construction. Coming to the congress is a confirmation of the French presence and desire to play an important a role in the development of European imaging. Professor. Menu is keen to present the 2011 edition as a showcase of France, both qualitative and quantitative.

The Presidency president is appealing to all the members if the French radiological community to mobilise and invest heavily in March 2011 and the ECR. He also recalls that for young radiologists this will be an unforgettable experience and possibly a founding element of their careers. Furthermore, team leaders and trainers should inform their staff and students of the opportunities, which will be present at the congress and encourage them to participate in this event. Lastly, Professor Menu calls for everyone to help add a ‘French flavour’ to this year’s ECR.
