Agfa HealthCare's integrated RIS/PACS/Reporting Solution, IMPAX(TM) Enterprise, and CR systems, to help entire facility transform from analog to digital solutions

Mortsel, Belgium / Greenville, South Carolina (US) - May 14, 2007 - 11:00 CET

Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of IT enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, announces today that Southern Regional Health System (SRHS) of Riverdale, Georgia (U.S.A.), has selected Agfa HealthCare's integrated RIS/PACS/Reporting Solution, IMPAX(TM) Enterprise, for its diagnostic imaging department. The move, accomplished through Agfa HealthCare's Four Point Guarantee Program (1), will help SRHS tie together various systems within the facility, giving the group an efficient way to handle the community's imaging needs.

IMPAX Enterprise, an integrated digital imaging and information solution, can facilitate and enhance the planning, capture, interpretation, distribution, and archiving of diagnostic images throughout the hospital enterprise. It includes an integrated RIS (Radiology Information System), PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) and voice recognition reporting system. The implementation will proceed in a phased approach with the RIS solution expected to go live in July. The PACS system will be deployed across the facility and will include orthopedic and mammography capabilities. SRHS is also putting in seven CR 85-X computed radiography systems with Agfa HealthCare NX software for their main radiology, ICU (Care Unit Intensive), ER (Emergency Room) and NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) areas.

"SRHS is rapidly transforming the entire diagnostic imaging department from an analog environment to digital. The move will make SRHS one of the most state-of-the-art hospitals in Georgia with respect to PACS, voice recognition reporting and RIS," said Danny Whitt, director, Diagnostic Imaging, Southern Regional Health System. "We expect Agfa HealthCare's technology will help us streamline communication between departments and result in fewer repeated studies."

Administrators, radiologists, PACS administrators, technologists, clinicians, and IT specialists all gain workflow advantages when using IMPAX Enterprise. Its features, navigation tools, and display modes are designed in a flexible and intuitive way so that they can be tailored to individual preferences. Users can match the applications to their work habits. The voice recognition reporting solution, part of IMPAX Enterprise, will allow SRHS radiologists to very quickly and efficiently turn around reports.

Changing the way an entire department works can be a daunting task, but the leadership at SRHS recognized their staff is up to that challenge and that this was the right direction for their patients. The Four Point Guarantee Program is Agfa HealthCare's unique and exclusive program that enables healthcare facilities such as SRHS to fully enter the digital world with less financial, technical and operational risk, by eliminating prohibitive costs and working closely with all users to ease the digital transition.

"With this installation, SRHS demonstrates its dedication to bringing advanced, high-quality solutions to its patients," said Agfa HealthCare's David Chambers, vice president, Sales and Marketing, Americas. "The hospital is growing and our Four Point Guarantee Program helped them preserve their capital for other projects. We are proud to be working with SRHS and helping them make the quality and efficiency gains they are looking for."

(1) Note: Agfa HealthCare's Four Point Guarantee Program assures Agfa HealthCare customers their journey from analog to digital will be efficient and effective. It also guarantees them little or no capital expenditure is needed.
