PACSGEAR, a provider of imaging connectivity for electronic health records, today announced the PACSGEAR Enterprise Imaging Platform, a suite of solutions designed to capture, cache, stream and integrate photographic images and medical videos throughout the enterprise. Planned for introduction at the upcoming RSNA Annual Meeting, the company will demonstrate MDR® 7.0, an MPEG2/MPEG4-compliant video capture solution, and the PACSGEAR Media Server™ for video caching and streaming. The platform supports the company’s recently announced PACS 2.0 initiative, the evolution of medical image connectivity to include integration with electronic health records.

“With EHRs coming on-line, hospitals are quickly finding that some image documentation, such as thermal paper-based images and videotape is not compatible with digital workflow,” said Eli Rapaich, PACSGEAR’s CEO. “In other cases, digital camera images from dermatology or endoscopic video clips from surgery circulate locally, but cannot be viewed outside their respective departments. By introducing the PACSGEAR Enterprise Imaging Platform, facilities can easily and affordably capture, cache, stream and integrate high resolution video and other images in a way that complements their existing PACS and EHR investments. It is an exciting time for PACSGEAR,” Rapaich said.

The PACSGEAR Enterprise Imaging Platform will be featured at PACSGEAR’s Booth #8908 at the 97th Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA 2011) in Chicago from November 27 – December 2, 2011.
