Elekta achieved first place rankings in two recent challenges for new prototype software. The top finishes were for lung, as well as head & neck at the 13th International Conference on Medical Imaging and Computing Assisted Intervention (MICCAI 2010) as part of the Medical Image Analysis for the Clinic: A Grand Challenge workshop held in conjunction with MICCAI.
The goal for contestants in the Head & Neck Autosegmentation Challenge 2010 was to quantitatively compare fully automatic methods for segmenting the structures of the parotid glands. Elekta's prototype software won for the validation and for the paper: Automatic Segmentation of Parotids in Head and Neck CT Images Using Multi-Atlas Fusion.
In the Evaluation of Methods for Pulmonary Image Registration 2010 (EMPIRE10) contest, participants were to provide a platform for in-depth evaluation and fair comparison of available registration algorithms for this application. Elekta's prototype software won for the validation and for the paper: Feature-constrained Nonlinear Registration of Lung CT Images.
