Long-term pioneers at the cutting edge of technology, Dr. Hancken Clinics have operated digital X-ray, including CR and DR technology combined with PACS, for a number of years. Now, for the first time, an overarching PACS will be installed for all locations to centrally access, distribute and archive patient images.
To facilitate the project, Carestream Health is working closely with EWETEL, a regional telecommunications service provider, who are not only providing the fast data lines required but also accommodating the central Carestream PACS system within its computer centre. As a result, an optimal security concept can be realised to make any loss of data virtually impossible. Centralisation of data in this way minimises the requirement for separate, expensive data storage and back-up. Patient images are always available to the referring physician no matter where located in the group. Duplicate X-rays are also a thing of the past as the original image can be retrieved at any time - a major step towards radiation hygiene, as required under German X-ray regulations.
